Ummah is an Arabic word meaning "community" or
"nation". In the context of Islam, the word Ummah or Muslim Ummah is
used to mean "Community of the Believers of ALLAH" so whole Muslim
world is UMMAH...
The Holy Quran teach the Muslims to live a social life in the
form of one compact nation, Ummah. The Quran does not address individuals. All
its injunction and laws are addressed to the Muslim ‘Ummah' as a whole.
Thus, have We made of you an
Ummat justly balanced, that ye might be witnesses over the nations, and the
Messenger a witness over yourselves; and We appointed the Qibla to which thou
wast used, only to test those who followed the Messenger from those who would
turn on their heels (From the Faith). Indeed it was (A change) momentous, except
to those guided by Allah. And never would Allah Make your faith of no effect.
For Allah is to all people Most surely full of kindness, Most Merciful.(2:143)
You
are the best nation produced [as an example] for mankind. You enjoin what is
right and forbid what is wrong and believe in Allah . If only the People of the
Scripture had believed, it would have been better for them. Among them are
believers, but most of them are defiantly disobedient (3:110)
Islam considers all Muslims to
be one Ummah,
According
to the above verse, Muslims are identified as one Ummah, as parts of which they
move towards a common goal, strive to realize their common objectives, worship
one and the only ALLAH.
Muslims
are described as one body… MUHAMMAD(PBUH)
SAID… O people listen to and understand clearly what I say … Know that every
muslim is the brother of his fellow muslim. Muslims are brothers unto one
another.( Al-Bukhari Hadith)
The Believers are but a single Brotherhood: So
make peace and reconciliation between your two (contending) brothers; and fear
Allah, that ye may receive Mercy.(49:10)
In last sermon of holy prophet Muhammad (PBUH):
An Arab is not superior to a foreigner, nor is a
foreigner superior to an Arab. The white man is not superior to the black man,
nor is the black man superior to the white man. The only qualities that make
any of these people superior to any other of these people are piety and
righteousness.
No
matter where we are living, the thing that binds us together is our Islam. Can
any other religion claim to have such unity? answer is nooo...
Sectarianism:
"And hold fast, all
together, by the rope which Allah (stretches out for you), and be not divided
among yourselves." (3:103)
Allah (SWT) makes it clear in
Noble Qur'an that unity of the Muslim Ummah is very important. Allah (SWT)
tells us not to be divided and to hold tightly to the teachings of Noble Qur'an
and the example of Holy Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). Unfortunately we Muslims have
divided ourselves into different sects.
But
the people divided their religion among them into sects - each faction, in what
it has, rejoicing.(23:53)
We bicker over trivial issues
that hold no meaning and do not benefit Muslim Ummah in any way. Today, if the
Muslims look at themselves they will see a group of people separated from one
another. This disunity resulted into intellectual decline, loss of cordial
values like sincerity, patience, tolerance, self-sacrifice… so the Ummah is surrounded by problems and worries at
present.
Islamic Social Order:
The practical way of achieving Muslim Brotherhood is by
establishing a social order in which the code of life is the Quran. In this social
order the Ummah shall chose its own representatives the one who is the best ‘Ameer'
or leader. The ‘Ameer' shall enforce the Quranic laws, injunctions and permanent values of the Quran. The rest
of the Ummah shall obey the laws enforced by the ‘Ameer'. That is what is
called an Islamic Social Order. This social order shall be applicable to the
entire Ummah( JUST REMEMBER THE ERA OF OMAR-E- FAROOQ R.A great era … Tributes
by Historians
‘If
history had another Umar (RA), there would have been Islam and only Islam on
the earth!’
‘No
mother will be able to produce another like him’) …
But now a beginning can be made at the lower levels: for example
in localities inside a city, gradually rising up to the level of the city and
further rising from city level to State level. Such a social order shall enable
the voice of each individual to be heard at the highest level; and at the same
time shall allow the orders enforced by the highest authority, to reach
individuals, at the laws level, who shall thus be bound down to the Quranic
guidance.
Muslims should understand that
unity is what will make us move forward in this world as well hereafter. Today
the Muslim Ummah is behind in everything, Education, technology, trade and most
importantly our faith. Non-Muslims may not believe in our faith but their unity
has made them come very far. Remember the era when the Muslims were united and held on to Allah's rope tightly? The
Islamic empire spread from the east to west and Allah (SWT) blessed them with
wealth, fame, victory and
honor. Muslims need to be united now more than ever before. The only way to
unite Ummah is QURAN AND SUNNAH…
